Support
Write to us and a person reads it. We usually reply within a couple of business days, and sooner if something is broken.
Found a wrong card? Tell us the Japanese word and what is wrong with it, and include whether the problem is the meaning, the reading, or the audio. Wrong audio is the one we can usually fix the fastest, and we would rather hear about ten than miss one.
Subscriptions and billing
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancelling happens in your Apple account, not in Pack Lingo, because Apple does the billing. On your iPhone: open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap Pack Lingo, then Cancel Subscription.
You keep access until the period you have already paid for runs out. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, or it renews once more.
I paid but the app still says I am not subscribed
Tap Restore Purchases on the subscribe screen. It works even if you are not signed in. This fixes nearly every case, especially after reinstalling or switching phones.
If it does not, check that the iPhone is signed in to the same Apple account that made the purchase. Still stuck? Email us and say roughly when you bought it and which plan, and we will look it up.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no way to refund an Apple purchase ourselves.
Write to us anyway if something went wrong. We will tell you what we can see on our side, which sometimes helps the case.
I deleted my account. Does that cancel my subscription?
No, and this catches people out. Deleting your account removes your data from us, but the subscription lives in your Apple account and keeps renewing until you cancel it there. Cancel first, then delete.
Your account and your collection
Do I need an account to use the app?
No. The app works fully from the first launch with no sign-up. Your collection lives on an anonymous account created on your phone.
The catch is that an anonymous account is tied to that install. Link it to Sign in with Apple or an email address and your collection survives a lost phone, a new phone, or a reinstall. It takes a few seconds and we recommend it.
I reinstalled the app and my cards are gone
If the account was never linked, there is unfortunately nothing to recover it with. An anonymous account has no identifier we could match you to, which is the trade for not asking you to sign up.
If it was linked, sign in with the same method and everything comes back. If you signed in and landed in an empty collection, stop there and email us before opening more packs, and we will look at whether two accounts need merging.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings, then Delete Account. That removes your profile, your collection, your review history, and your email address if you linked one. If you used Sign in with Apple we also tell Apple to revoke the app's access.
There is a 30-day window in which you can change your mind, and the account is locked the whole time. You can also choose immediate deletion and skip the window. Cancel any subscription in your Apple settings first.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. The app can export everything we hold about you. If you would rather we sent it, email privacy@packlingo.app.
Packs, cards and review
When do I get new packs?
Free packs refill on a daily allowance. Your day turns over in the early morning in your own time zone rather than at midnight UTC, so a late-night session counts towards the day you think it does.
Why do I keep seeing cards I already know?
Review is spaced on purpose. A card you answer confidently comes back at a longer interval each time, and one you miss comes back soon. Seeing an easy card occasionally is the schedule working, not a bug. If a card you genuinely know keeps returning quickly, it is usually because an earlier answer was marked wrong.
The audio will not play
Check the mute switch on the side of the iPhone first, then the volume, then whether any other app will play sound. Pack Lingo respects the silent switch.
Audio is downloaded the first time a card is shown and then kept on the phone, so a clip that fails on a bad connection usually works on the next try. If one specific word is silent or sounds wrong, that is worth reporting: tell us the word and we will check the recording itself.
Does it work offline?
Mostly. Cards and audio you have already seen are stored on your phone, so review works on a plane. Opening packs and saving progress need a connection, and progress made offline syncs when you are back online.
A card looks wrong to me
Please tell us. Japanese politeness and register depend on context the app cannot always show, so some cards read oddly in a situation we did not picture. Others are simply mistakes. Either way we would rather know: support@packlingo.app.
Devices
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Pack Lingo is iPhone only at launch. If you want to be told when that changes, email us and say so.
Does it work on iPad?
It runs on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode, so it works but it is not designed for the larger screen. A proper iPad layout is on the list.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes, as long as the account is linked. Sign in with the same method on both and your collection and progress follow you. An anonymous account cannot move between devices.
Something else
If none of the above covers it, write to support@packlingo.app. Telling us which iPhone and which iOS version you are on saves a round trip, and a screenshot or a screen recording saves two.
